FPGA Engineer

Permanent employee, Full-time · München, Remote

Your mission
As an FPGA Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing hardware platforms that support mission-critical satellite operations, specifically in image processing. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to design and implement FPGA solutions, ensuring high performance and reliability in the processing of our sensor data and interfacing with the satellite system.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop FPGA-based solutions on AMD/Xilinx-Zynq UltraScale+ platforms for image processing and cybersecurity.
  • Take ownership of the FPGA hardware layer and collaborate with the software team to ensure seamless integration with the embedded system.
  • Architect and implement custom IP cores using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog, ensuring rigorous verification and validation.
  • Implement high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, CoaXPress, and Gigabit Ethernet, along with signal processing techniques.
  • Develop well-documented, testable code that aligns with industry standards and practices, including space industry standards (e.g., CCSDS, ECSS).

Your profile
  • 3+ years of FPGA development experience, with a strong background in custom IP core design and verification (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog).
  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx-Zynq UltraScale+ series is required; familiarity with other FPGA platforms like Intel/Altera, Microchip/Microsemi, or Lattice is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of synthesis, timing analysis, clock domain crossing techniques, and simulation tools such as Vivado Simulator.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces like PCIe, CoaXPress, DDR4, and Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Experience in hardware-related programming of FPGA interfaces using C/C++ and Linux is a plus.
  • Familiarity with digital image processing or signal processing is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work within an international, cross-functional team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn new technologies and standards, especially in the space industry.
  • Experience in Python, TCL scripting and Rust is a plus
  • Important: Please only apply if you have a valid working permit in Germany (or the EU)

About us
Vyoma is on a mission to solve one of the big issues humanity faces today: the problem of space debris threatening active satellites in orbit. We are building a fleet of space cameras to monitor such space debris. Together with our software suite, we build an accurate catalogue of space objects, automate satellite operations for our customers, and ultimately keep our orbits clean and safe. We are a young and international team of aerospace engineers and software developers, backed by some of the top investors and venture capitalists in Germany.

Our offices are located very centrally in Munich (Bonner Platz). Amongst others, you can expect a great (very international) team atmosphere, highly qualified colleagues, flexible working hours, remote/hybrid work, and a very exciting company vision.
