Your mission
With thousands of satellites in orbit, providing us with critical services like telecommunications, geolocation and meteorology, ensuring their safety and the long-term sustainability of the space environment is at the core of our mission. Vyoma's vision is to build Europe's first sovereign space surveillance solution that will be capable of mapping all centimetre-scale space objects orbiting in low-Earth orbit (LEO).
Vyoma's Advanced Concepts Team is driving the development of innovative solutions, researching a wealth of complex problems related to mission design and conceptualization, and exploring emerging technologies in order to maintain our competitive edge in space situational awareness. This includes the development of numerical simulations, the optimization of our observational strategy, and the definition of requirements for our future space telescopes, while also providing insights to Vyoma's other teams.
YOUR FOCUS
We are currently looking for motivated PhD students who are keen to apply their academic expertise to an exciting real-world application. You will join Vyoma for a duration of 3-6 months to work on a cutting-edge problem in the field of space-based space surveillance, perform research in an industrial context, and contribute to our space mission. You will support the research and development of Vyoma's Advanced Concepts Team, particularly in the observational domain, depending on your scientific background. While we appreciate open discussions about your interests, some areas of current research include (but are not limited to):
- Modeling the performance of ground-based radar observations for space surveillance
- Target characterization via space-based multi-band observations
- Constraining target rotational states via space-based light-curve measurements
